This is an Original Black Forest house cuckoo clock with animated wood-sawyer. The windows are decorated with flower baskets. There is a bench with a cat sitting watching the wood-sawyer work. Behind the cat is a 3D carved tree.
Anton Schneider is the manufacturer of this fine cuckoo clock and it is made in Schonach, Germany. This clock has a one day movement which must be wound daily. It is very reliable and easy to service. Two cast iron pine cones hang below the clock on tarnish resistant brass chains. These weights apply gravity to the chain which transmits up thru the gears in the clock driving the movement time and cuckoo call.
At the top of the hour the cuckoo bird will emerge from the door at the top and call the hour and then return to its nest as the door slaps shut. At the bottom of the hour the cuckoo appears and calls only once to mark the half-hour. The wood-sawyer springs into action with each call of the cuckoo. There is a night shut-off switch for quiet time or night use. This clock has a two year manufacturer’s warranty.
**Note - The cuckoo clock shown in the video below is the 8 day version of this same cuckoo clock, Model 8T 1116/9. It has larger weights and an 8 day movement as the only difference. It is a little more convenient as it must be wound weekly rather than daily. **
