This cute Black Forest cottage cuckoo clock has an animated wood chopper at work, chopping wood. The curved roof has individually hand spliced wooden shingles. Below are two trees, stacked wood and the moving wood chopper. He has some neatly stacked wood in front of him next to the stationary water wheel.
At the top of the hour the cuckoo bird will emerge from the door at the top and call the hour and then return to its nest as the door closes. At the bottom of the hour the cuckoo appears and calls only once to mark the half-hour. During the call of cuckoo the wood chopper springs into action and chops wood. There is a night shut-off switch for quiet time or night use. This clock has a two year manufacturer’s warranty.
Anton Schneider is the manufacturer of this fine cuckoo clock and it is made in Schonach, Germany. This clock has a one day movement which must be wound daily. It is very reliable and easy to service. Two cast iron pine cones hang below the clock on tarnish resistant brass chains. These weights apply gravity to the chain which transmits up thru the gears in the clock driving the movement, time and cuckoo call.
We have opened the box to check this clock. It is a new clock, we have just resealed the box.
***Note – The video below shows the 8T 314/9 cuckoo clock with 8 day movement. The clock is the same dimensions but has larger weights than the 1 day clock, 314/9. The 8T 314/9 must be wound weekly making it a more convenient clock ***
