This beautiful cuckoo clock has animated birds that rock to feed the nest during the call of cuckoo. It is hand-carved and hand-painted by Anton Schneider Black Forest cuckoo clocks in Schonach Germany. The clock is made of linden wood and no two clocks will look the same.
There are four carved maple leaves and bird that sits on the crest. The two birds at the bottom move during the call of cuckoo to feed the nest. Following this one of two melodies will play as the dancers dance on the balcony.
Three cast iron weights in the shape of pine cones drive the clock. One drives the cuckoo call, one the music and one the time. The tarnish resistant chain threads up thru the clock mechanism and around the drive gears. The weights gravity is what powers the clock and it movements. This could be considered a green clock as the linden wood it is made from is replanted for every tree that is cut.
The music comes from a Swiss music box mounted inside the clock. It will play Edelweiss and The Wanderer but this is subject to change. There is also a night shut-off switch for quiet time or night time hours. The clock must be wound weekly.
