This Black Forest house cuckoo clock is battery powered and has a moving wood chopper and hand painted flowers. The roof is made of individually, hand spliced, shingles and has a chimney protruding from the roof. There is an owl and squirrel watching the wood chopper work.
The clock is made by Anton Schneider in Schonach, Germany and uses a quartz movement which uses batteries. Two cast iron pine cones hang below the clock but are purely ornamental as is the swinging pendulum. An automatic night shut-off switch is also standard for quiet time or night use. The switch has a manual, on and auto position. In the automatic position a light sensor turns the clock off when it is dark.
