This great little cuckoo clock is the basic model made by the Anton Schneider Black Forest Cuckoo Clock Company in Schonach Germany. The clock is made of linden wood which is a reforestable product grown in the Black Forest. The wood carvings are of a single bird which sits on the crest with hand-carved leaves on each side. Below are carved branches and three more leaves on the side and bottom of the clock. This cuckoo clock is 9" tall and uses the German Regula #25 mechanical mechanism, which is the best on the market today. The wooden dial has roman numerals and easy to see, plastic hands.
At the top of the hour the cuckoo bird will emerge from the door at the top and cuckoo once for each hour and then go back inside as the door slaps shut behind. At the bottom of the hour cuckoo will call only once and return to his nest. This cuckoo clock must be wound daily by pulling down on each chain opposite the weights. Gravity drives the cuckoo call and time so the clock is very energy efficient. This clock does not have a night shut-off lever. View the photos and watch the video of this cuckoo clock in action. This clock is also available with wooden dial, hands and bird, see model #71/9
