The clock is powered by a German Regula number 34 movement which must be wound weekly and is very reliable and easy to service. Two cast iron pine cones apply gravity to the tarnish resistant chains which drive the movement, time and cuckoo call. The dial, numerals, hands and cuckoo bird are all made of wood. There is a night shut off switch for quiet time and night use. This fine cuckoo clock is made in Schonach, Germany.
