This Black Forest house cuckoo clock is made by Anton Schneider in the Black Forest of Germany. This clock is shows a forest scene with deer grazing and a hopping rabbit. There are two hand carved trees and a mushroom growing.
This clock has a one day movement which must be wound daily. It is very reliable and easy to service. Two cast iron pine cones hang below the clock on tarnish resistant brass chains. These weights apply gravity to the chain which transmits up thru the gears in the clock driving the movement time and cuckoo call.
At the top of the hour the cuckoo bird will emerge from the door at the top and call the hour and then return to its nest as the door slaps shut. At the bottom of the hour the cuckoo appears and calls only once to mark the half-hour. During this call of cuckoo the deer and rabbit become animated and move to the call. There is a night shut-off switch for quiet time or night use. This clock has a two year manufacturer’s warranty.
