This Black Forest house cuckoo clock has an animated wood chopper cutting wood while his dog watches. The clock has a hand spliced shingled roof. The windows all have open shudders and flowers below each window. There is some very intricate fretwork on the top portion of the clock and a couple of 3D carved trees on the base.
After the call of cuckoo one of two, twenty-two note melodies will play.
The clock is made by Anton Schneider in Schonach, Germany. It uses the German Regula 1 day musical movement which is reliable and easy to service. Three cast iron pine cones apply gravity to the brass, tarnish resistant chains which drive the movement, time and cuckoo call. This clock has night shut off switch for quiet time or night use. The pendulum swings back and forth to allow the escapement of the mechanical mechanism. The cuckoo call is created by two bellows mounted on top of whistles inside the clock and actuated by wires at the correct time.
